The Reach Project

The REACH Project-Realising Equality, Achieving Change Holistically-A project supporting Gender Equality
Cultúr has accessed funding to co-ordinate and deliver a new project called the R.E.A.C.H. Project under the Equality for Women Measure Programme which is funded by European Social Fund and co-ordinated by Pobal and the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
The project will provide a set of interlinked education and training courses which are both accredited and non accredited for migrant women. The training will roll out at the end of January 2011 and will be completed by the end of June 2011.
The programme is spread over a two year period and it will cover 4 urban areas in Co. Meath: Navan and Kells in Year 1 and Trim and Ashbourne in Year 2. In total in a target number of one hundred and sixty migrant women in Co. Meath will complete training over the two year period.
The project will endeavour to meet the range of needs of three specific target groups of migrant women focusing on:
- English Language skills training for migrant women who are non progression ready and who require language skills in order to access mainstream education and training initiatives;
- Career Pathways Mapping and Mentoring for migrant women seeking to have their qualification mapped in an Irish context, providing supports for those who may need to retain and to support them to identify their skills set requirements, assess language skills proficiency, making links/referrals to further mainstream supports that are available;
- Job Preparation skills for migrant women who are ready for employment e.g. CV preparation, interview skills, negotiation skills, matching skills to work etc.
